Encyclopedia of Special Teams Play
Item Number: FD-02738

with Rick Kelm,
Ripon HS (WI) Head Football Coach;
2005 & 2003 Wisconsin Class 4 State Champions,
2003 Wisconsin High School Coach of the Year

Special teams play has been a key to Ripon High Schools 38-2 record over the past three seasons. Coach Kelm believes that special teams must receive as much emphasis in practice and planning as offense and defense. Being aggressive and calculated make this special teams' package effective. Ten unique situations make up this special teams package. These areas include kick off, onside kick, kick off return, hands team, punt, punt fake, punt block, punt return, extra point/field goal and fake extra point/field goal. The punt game, onside package, punt block systems make it difficult for the opponent to prepare for Ripon. In all, 20% of all plays in a high school game are special team situations. This DVD is a complete presentation on special teams at the high school level and has been a crucial part of the consistent success at Ripon High School.

The Triple Option Offense

with Kerry Coombs,
Colerain HS (OH) Head Coach;
and Rick Haynes, Colerain HS (OH) Offensive Coordinator;
2004 Ohio State Champions

The triple option has many benefits: Option football does not require great linemen, it can use time and dictate tempo, it is difficult to prepare for, and simulating the option is hard for opponents to do in practice. At the high school level, having good players at the quarterback, dive back and the pitch position will give you a great chance to be successful. Coach Haynes explores Colerain's system of triple option football. Haynes divides the line into a quick side and strong side. He presents two blocking schemes against the "50 Front." The inside veer can be used against a "4 linebacker" look. Running the ball to the "1 technique" is a part of this attack. A double team scheme is taught for specific situations, and is demonstrated on the board in this DVD. Because of savvy defenses, many adjustments must be made with this offense. Haynes goes through a step-by-step approach to making changes during the game. This presentation concludes with game footage, which enhances the presentation.

Midline and Outside Veer Plays from the Triple Option

with Kerry Coombs,
Colerain HS (OH) Head Coach;
and Rick Haynes, Colerain HS (OH) Offensive Coordinator;
2004 Ohio State Champions

Colerain HS annually fields one of the top football teams in Ohio, based on their solid running attack and stingy defense. Coach Haynes feels that if only two of the three options are good players, you can still have a great attack. Starting with the Veer, Haynes breaks down the blocking schemes against the 50 defense player by player, as well as the schemes versus a 4-3 and a 3-3 Stack Defense. Line play depends on quickness and angles, not great size and strength. Haynes shows the 46 and 47 to run for the Veer, as well as the outside Veer. Midline is a run scheme that attacks the middle of the defense and involves the quarterback and the fullback. The midline option is called 40 and 41. The key is to make the defense think you are running the triple option. Haynes points out two important adjustments in the option. Marker board presentation and game footage help reinforce these teaching points and techniques. This DVD can guide you to run successfully against different alignments.

50 Football Defense video
Price:
$39.99

Having a defensive football philosophy you can believe in year after year is important, according to Coach Coombs, and one football defensive philosophy Coach Coombs believes in is the 50 Defense. There are many advantages to the 50 Defense. The 50 football defense does not require great size and it's simple to teach and learn. The goal is to build a wall and push the offense to the outside. A disadvantage of the 50 football defense is that it is not great against the pass and is not a penetrating attack...
